You are required to explore the concepts of culture and professionalism & demonstrate an
understanding of culturally responsive and culturally competent practice

2. Choose an aspect of the law and discuss this in relation to the role of the nurse.

You are required to select an aspect of law and demonstrate your understanding of how
statutory considerations impact on nursing practice and on the decision making of nurses.

3. Examine an interaction or eventfrom your clinical placement, which has required you to
demonstrate professional conduct (NMC 2008).

You are required to identify the clinical practice area, the interaction/event and the student
role. This will involve discussion of the situation in relation to professional conduct.
All three pieces ofwork have these following rules:

0 1000 words is the guide, with a 10% allowance either way. If you go over or under the 10%
then you will be penalised by one grade. Word count does not include; the reference list,
the appendix.

0 You must write a reflective appendix on a topic relevant to your essay – it will be easier to
fill in and use the reflective questionnaire in the post-session material for the relevant
teaching session.

0 References must be given, for a 1000 word essay a minimum of 8 references is expected.

0 Each log is submitted separately via UniHub and feedback given (including % grade) in
order to inform the next stage of the log.

0 Work must be typed (11/2 or double-spaced); using font size 12.

0 Pages must be numbered consecutively throughout, with numbers at the foot of the page.
